Justin Amash’s love hate relationship with PACs

On one hand Justin loves to talk about hating super PACs. On the other hand he loves to take their money. He claims to have only recieved about 7,000 dollars from PACs in the last quarter. Overall, for 2012 however he has raised about ten times that amount from PACs.

On his facebook page he is pushing his “money bomb” to help him defeat the PACs.

I don’t cozy up to lobbyists and beg for PAC checks, so I have to raise $78,545.56 on June 4 & 5

uhhhh okay?

One intelligent commenter made a great point which Justin responded to personally.

If PAC’S are wrong then don’t take any money from them. Are you upset you don’t get much support from PAC’S, or upset that PAC’S represent a group of voters interests?

Justin Responds

I’m not against PACs. I’m against politicians selling out their votes to PACs. The few PACs that donate to me know that they’re not getting anything special in return. - Justin Amash

Exactly, it is wrong for other politicians to take PAC money but it is okay for Justin Amash to do it because he has the moral fortitude to resist any influence their money might have.

there’s a big difference between sending you money because they like your votes and sending you money to change your votes - Justin Amash

Justin was hostile to the disadvantaged, the middle class, small business and consumers long before he started getting any checks. In other words he will fight for big business and the .1% for free, the checks are just a nice thank you. In fact he raised 174,468 dollars from PACs in 2010 - before he had made any votes as a representative. His Democratic challenger Pat Miles took in less than half that amount.
